Working in retail was hell on earth, but I got to meet one of my best friends. Eric meant the world to me and he always encouraged me to be better person. I have so many fond memories of Eric from working at GameStop, Tech Star, and playing games together.
One of my favorite memories was when Eric and I worked at GameStop. I was in the front checking out a customer. Eric comes to the front of the store and says “are we going to smash later?” As in playing Super Smash Bros, not anything dirty. The kid I was checking out smiled at me and said “I wasn’t aware that it was THAT kind of workplace” I’m pretty sure my face turned instantly red and proceeded to explain to the customer we were talking about a video game. We laughed about it for years. Such a silly thing that will be forever burned into my memory.
Also I want to bring up another memory of when I was mad at Eric. Months after Eric quit GameStop I decided I was going to use the work microwave. I opened it to find a meal that Eric heated up and never ate. The second I opened the microwave the rotting food took over the back of the store. I stupidly decided to open the container Eric left rotting in the microwave. I almost passed out. I knew it had to be one person. So I called him and demanded he come back to clean the microwave and throw out his food. He laughed at me as I yelled at him for a solid 5+ minutes.
